Hook Shot by Kennedy Ryan is a deeply emotional, thought provoking romance story. The words have a quiet intensity that grab your heart. I love how mature this story is. The author speaks about serious topics that need to be addressed but she does it with sensitivity and respect. There is healing in this love story and it touches you deeply and profoundly.
If you have read Long Shot, you would know beforehand that there was something there for Lotus and Kenan from their first meet up. Their love though was so much bigger than I expected. It is a connection between two souls that belong together. Their sexual attraction is off the charts but it is like an expression of their inner bond.
Lotus is one of the most interesting female characters I have read about. She is a warrior, a fighter of life. She struggles with her past but she is reasonable and ready to battle her ghosts. She is strong minded and I admire the fact that she stays true to her beliefs and her spirituality.
Kenan is a gentle giant. He is an introvert, an old soul but with the love of Lotus he thrives. He is protective, caring, patient. A real life gentleman.
The writing is exquisite. The story is powerful and although the flow is easygoing, each word is chosen wisely and has an impact. It’s not an easy journey for this couple and despite being realistic, it is so romantic.
When time passes, we tend to forget the details of a book but I am sure even if we forget about Lotus and Kenan , the essence of this story will stay with us. This book shows that love is such a powerful force and that is truly unforgettable!
