Love Words from Collin to Addie from Reckless Hearts by Heather Van Fleet

Reckless Hearts by Heather Van Fleet

Between boot camp and two TOD’s in Iraq, my buddies Max, Gavin and me have been through some serious hell. So the last thing I ever expected was to find the biggest challenge of my life back home.

My girlfriend died. I couldn’t even attend her funeral, let alone tell her goodbye or that I’m sorry I wasn’t there like I should’ve been.

But she left me a gift. The best and scariest one I could’ve ever asked for. One I didn’t think I could handle…until the day I saw her tiny blues looking up at me in that airport. Chloe.

Now here I am, raising my baby girl—with the help of my two best friends. Things couldn’t be better. Until she walked into my life.

All I wanted was a nanny. Someone to take care of my girl when I couldn’t. What I didn’t count on was Addison, the brown-eyed temptress with a body of sin, and everything I didn’t need, but suddenly wanted.

Love words from Collin to Addie

Addie,

Apparently, I’m supposed to write you a love note. God knows I suck at this kinda stuff. Most days I can barely get a sentence outta my mouth that makes sense, let alone write entire sonnets and all that other Valentine BS. So, if this thing sucks, then blame the book blogger that made me do it.

I wasn’t even supposed to go out the night we met, not sure if you knew that or not. And I sure as hell wasn’t supposed to find my forever sittin’ in a dirty bar, buried under a huge coat either. After my rugby match, I actually had visions of headin’ home, snuggling with Beaner, then maybe kicking back with a beer after she went to sleep.

Until the moment I set my sights on you.

There you were, looking all sexy, drawing me in with all that dark hair. You were so tiny sitting at that table, so helpless too—though I know you’re far from. We both know that night wasn’t our greatest. I was an overbearing dick, and you ran away. But things fell into place for us eventually. And looking back on it now, I don’t regret a second of it.

I love you, Addie. Love how you respect me, how you hold my hand when I’m about ready to give up on something. Love how you snuggle with my baby girl when she’s crabby, and I love it even more how you respect her mom enough to talk about her whenever you can, even though you never even knew her. And most of all, Addie, I love how you love me. How you give me sass, call me out on my bullshit, and then at the end of the day you crawl into bed with me and are willing to do it all over again the next day.

Whether you know it or not, I’m gonna marry you. I’m gonna make you my wife. I’m gonna make sure that no matter what happens, you’re always happy too. You’re my universe, Addison Booker, and yeah…my soon to be forever too.

Love,

Collin
