Love Words from Crew to Jules from Sacrifice by Adriana Locke

Sacrifice by Adriana Locke

My life changed forever the night my husband died.
I was left with a shattered heart, a heap of bills, and our daughter, EVERLEIGH. I don’t want to rely on anyone, least of all CREW GENTRY. He’s my first love and the man who almost destroyed me, the man who has let me down every time I’ve needed him.
But when tragedy strikes a second time, Crew just might be my only hope.

My life changed forever the night my brother died.
I was left with a guilty conscience, a pile of mistakes, and little else. I take care of JULIA GENTRY, my brother’s widow and the love of my life, and their daughter. I know she doesn’t want my help, but she gets it anyway. I owe her that.

When another disaster hits, I’m given the opportunity to make things right. I’m taking it. I’m willing to sacrifice it all.

Love Words from Crew to Jules

Jules,

Every time I sit down to write something to you, I think back on the morning I wrote you a note I thought might be my last one. Damn, that was hard. Not because it could’ve been my last one, but because I knew I wouldn’t be there to hold you while you read it.

I’m not here this morning either. Fucking Will scheduled a session with Pike, the new kid we’re working with. I oughta just make Will deal with it, but Pike’s been a handful lately and I feel like I should be there.

The kid reminds me of Gage and I growing up. Remember those days? If Ever even thinks about dating a guy like that—like Pike or me—someday, I’m going to straight up chain her to the furniture. Our little girl won’t be leaving the damn house.

I’ll be home around noon. I have our day all mapped out, so don’t make plans. I just want you to myself until Ever comes home from Mrs. Bennett’s tomorrow.

Oh—don’t answer the phone if Will calls. Macie is making him go see some movie for Valentine’s Day and he’s trying to sucker us into going with them. If you want to see it, I’ll take you. Alone. I’m not sharing you today.

I just looked at what I’ve written and I realize it’s a big bunch of shit. I wish I could write something all romantic, but I can’t. Just know that I’m thinking all of those things, I just don’t know how to say it without feeling like a pussy.

I love you, Jules. I love you so fucking much.

Happy Valentine’s Day,
Crew
