New Review- A Deal with the Devil by Elizabeth O’ Roark

Office romance is my catnip and I was so charmed by this book! Elizabeth O’Roark wrote a book full of fun, banter and an entertaining couple that will bring many smiles to your face!

Tali is an aspiring young author that takes cares of her family after her father’s death. She takes everything on her shoulders so she is in need of another job. When her best friend offers her temporarily to fill his position as an assistant, she is all in but she has to face her archenemy, his boss, Hayes.

Hayes is a plastic surgeon who is all work but also all play. After a bad breakup and a disastrous upbringing by his parents, he does not want relationships, only hookups and to earn more and more money. His life has no meaning until the quirky assistant makes everything upside down.

These two are hilarious together. In this grumpy/sunshine trope, we have a light, fun couple with amazing dialogues. They might start as antagonists but they become truly friends and then lovers.

Hayes is clever, moody and lonely. Tali is witty, loyal and caring. I loved how their relationship progressed and the slow burn is delicious. Hayes is a little closed off and Tali a little scared, so a better communication between them was needed. Also, I would have liked to see Tali to stand against her family sooner. Although, she was strong against Hayes, she was really reluctant to talk openly to her family. One more thing that surprised me was how much Tali talked back to her boss since the start and that for me was a little unrealistic.

This book was so heartwarming and pleasant! I devoured it from page one and I wish we could return to this charming world!
