Last year I started 2021 with a Stacy Reid read and once again I found myself starting 2022 with A Scoundrel of Her Own. This book is one of the best historical romance stories I have read. It is emotional, sweet and steamy.
Lady Ophelia is the daughter of a marquess and a lovely wallflower and not because of the lack of wedding proposals. She seeks for the one, the one she will fall in love. When she learns the deepest secret from her father, she dives into the underworld to uncover some truths.
Devlin Byrne is rich, successful but without a title so he will never be fully accepted in the high society. When a little songbird enters his life, he is transfixed. He wants her but he cannot have her, but how can he resist when she has changed all his life?
Ophelia and Devlin have shared an experience as kids that has united them and it was amazing to see their connection. As adults, this couple is irresistible. Their different backgrounds makes the story even more exciting and their forbidden love is magical.
Ophelia is a strong, brave and caring woman and Devlin is a dirty mouthed, trustworthy and passionate man. Together they are magical.
The only reason I did not give this story five stars is because I needed a little more extra in the epilogue and the cover is completely irrelevant to the characters.
If you are always on the look for a new historical romance book, then you don’t want to miss this story! A perfect reading beginning for this year!
