Alchemised is one of the most anticipated books of the year and I have to say that I bought it because of its hype but had no expectations as I went in this blindly. I knew it was based on Manacled, a story written by this author based on Harry Potter and the characters looked like Hermione and Malfoy, but I had no idea that it would feel like this deep, emotional punch into our hearts.
You know I am a fan of romance but this book for me it is not simply romantic. This is a story about war, resilience, fighting for your life and your loved ones. This book is dark with many trigger warnings you should not take lightly.
Helena is a healer for Eternal Flame but her friends and colleagues are all dead and she is now prisoned by the enemy. She has lost her memories and she is given to one of the most powerful men, a necromancer, Kaine Ferron. He has to unveil her secrets but these two are more than captive and captor.
I won’t give you any spoilers and I suggest not reading any, because this book will surprise you until the end.
SenLi You wrote a really complex story. The characters are multidimensional and the lines are crossed. You will wonder if their actions are justified because of the war. If you do everything imaginable for a cause or love, is it considered noble or evil? The themes of this book, especially in the times we are living, will make you think, make you a part of this story and will bring so many “what if?”.
The worldbuilding cannot be followed easily and as the book is big and heavy, sometimes you might get overwhelmed about the magic system, the alchemy, their powers, the details. Also, if you don’t like heavy subjects, horror, this book won’t be for you. It’s painful, disturbing, traumatizing.
This book is not perfect for me but it is so gut wrenching and touching that will definitely stay with me. It is raw, intense and emotional and no matter if you like it or not, it will definitely provoke you.
