I really love J.T. Geissinger’s books but I have to admit that I avoid dark romance. I was reluctant to read it but I pushed myself and I was so happy about it, because this book is based more on the relationship of the couple. It’s sweet, hot with a fun couple and an addictive story!
Truvy is a girl who is waitressing at a diner when one night she finds herself in danger. A man who moves in the shadows saves her life but soon she finds out he is not a prince but a villain.
Although, I thought this was going to be a dark mafia story, it is anything but. This couple is adorable and it is focused on the love bond that is created between them.
Tru is a snarky, smart girl who knows when to say no and does not fall for the hero’s commands.I admire when a heroine rescues herself and Tru is sharp and makes logical decisions. We are used for shy women to follow a man’s orders but this one might be in love, but she does not lose herself.
Liam is an alpha hero, mysterious and dangerous but I loved the fact that he surrenders to Tru. He does not deny his feelings and he is respectful and kind to the heroine.
I would have liked to see more plot development. The book starts amazingly and you expect to see more suspense, but this book is sweet and hot. There are not many things happening outside of their relationship and even the angst in the end resolves pretty quickly. If you expect a mafia romance with a dark hero, this is not it. Also, there is insta-love, something I am not a fan of.
I have loved this author’s books because of their humor and Beautifully Cruel is added to this list. It’s a light, sensual read and I cannot wait to read the second one in the series!
