Poppy has lost her husband five years ago but she still remains in the stage of grief and guilt. She still thinks herself as a wife but the rest remind her every day that she is a widow. She finally has to take the decision to move on with her life but she has to forgive herself first and admit that loving again doesn’t disgrace the memory of her dead husband.
Cole is a man with an interesting job, a family that loves him but he wants someone whom cannot have. From the first time he saw Poppy he was intrigued by the strong woman but he has to find his place into her heart without threatening her past.
I loved how their story unfolded. It’s a slow burn romance and the pace is really believable. Their relationship is sweet and they just have to find the balances. There is no question about their attraction but they build up their love life gradually and steadily.
Poppy is a kind and loveable girl. It is not easy to get over a loss so I admired her strength to move on but not forget. You can really understand her pain, her reluctance. Her feelings are real and raw.
As for Cole, the man is admirable. He is understanding and patient. He never pushes her and he respects her emotions. Not once does he steps over her limits. He doesn’t hide his passion for her but he never overwhelms her. He is a true gentleman.
The secondary characters are colorful and enrich the story.
