Brant’s Return by Mia Sheridan is a sweet love story laced with a dose of mystery and suspense. It is heartwarming and emotional but it has twists and turns and a prologue eerie that will leave you excited.
Brant has left his home in Kentucky for years and now he lives the big life in New York. He has women at his feet, wealth and businesses that thrive.
When he learns that his estranged father is dying, he has to go back to settle some things. He doesn’t expect to find a girl who makes his heart run faster.
Isabelle has lost everything but she tries to move on. When the arrogant man gets in her way, she has to decide if he is worth it.
I loved the heroine in this story. She has faced loss but she is not guarded. She is open with her feelings and although she is hurt, she gives everyone a chance. She has this adorable innocence despite her past. The fact that she works with horses is admirable and gives more calmness to her personality.
Brant is more closed off and I loved his transformation from a cold businessman to a caring man. He is protective and has humor. He doesn’t know how to love because he is afraid to be hurt. His relationship with his father is interesting and the steps to forgiveness are touching.
Their relationship is hot and sweet. I admired that the heroine showed strength and the hero vulnerabilities and vice versa. When one was in need the other was there to support.
My only complaint was that everything happened a little fast for my liking. I am not fan of instant attraction/love and this couple did everything quickly.
The mystery part of this story was entertaining although I had guessed the twist.
This book reminded me of the author’s first books but it still has the sensitive writing which I love.
Mia Sheridan wrote a book filled with desire and suspense. Two opposite characters that find love and give life a second chance!
