J.T. Geissinger is not a new author to me as I have been sharing her book news on my blog but I hadn’t read one of her books. “Burn for You” is a modern retelling of Beauty and the Beast and I cannot resist to these stories. I am so glad I gave this book a chance because it’s such a delightful one!
Bianca is one of the best cooks in New Orleans and her menu on the restaurant is just perfect! Everyone loves her pairings with the famous “Boudreaux” bourbon except one rich, gorgeous but totally gruff man, Boudreaux himself! She’d rather stay locked in the kitchen than chatting with the man but he keeps pushing and pushing.
Jackson “The Beast” Boudreaux wants nothing to do with his family legacy but in order to keep his inheritance, he needs a wife and he needs her now. The sassy cook needs his money, so it is nothing more than a beneficial contract, right?! So wrong…
This might be a slow burn romance but the story is anything but slow. Their attraction is burning and their banter is so fun and hot it’s like foreplay for them. I was reading this book and I had a smile on my face all the time!
The characters are really amazing! Jackson might appear arrogant and rude in the beginning but the man has some great qualities. I love his insight and how insecure he appears in many occasions and that makes him even more likeable. He is a beast with a heart of gold. He snaps easily but his past is so hurtful and behind the snarky attitude, there is a man compassionate, sensitive and loyal.
Bianca is such a sweet and funny girl. She is sassy, logical and she has the best humor. She doesn’t let Jackson terrorize her and she is strong and feisty.
The only thing missing in this story is an epilogue, which is nothing wrong but I am a sucker for getting a glimpse in the future of the couples.
“Burn for You” might be my first read by this author but it will surely not be my last. This is a story full of flavors that will make your heart sing and your face smile! I cannot wait for the next one!
