Brittainy C. Cherry is an author that knows how to write books full of soul and Disgrace is a sweet, emotional love story! This book is a must read because it overpasses a couple falling in love. It’s a story about family, friendship and second chances and mostly about healing and forgiveness.
Grace sees her life crumbling when her husband of fifteen years leaves her for another woman. Not only she is forced to go back to her hometown where gossip is thriving but also she has to face every day things that make her feel worthless.
Jackson is the black sheep of his town. Having a messed up life and the rejection of his community gets him angrier and angrier so he doesn’t have a place for a crying woman.
These two might appear as opposites but they are so similar in their hearts. They are lonely, heartbroken and too damaged. When they agree for a summer fling neither expects to fall in love.
Grace is a woman that in the beginning doesn’t know her true self so it was nice seeing discovering her wants and likes. She is kind, caring and has dignity that makes her admirable. Jackson is a man that will break you a little. He is abrupt, gruff but his attitude is understandable. When everyone treats you badly you don’t have another choice but doing the same thing. He is really sweet despite his hot and cold behavior.
I loved how much they support each other through the easy things and the hard ones. They are truly connected and know what each other needs. All the drama comes from outer sources but between them there is respect and understanding.
This author writes flawlessly and lyrically. Every word is chosen wisely so it can bring out the best of this world.
I am addicted to perfect endings so I would have loved seeing a little miracle happening but nonetheless Brittainy gave this couple a happily ever after full of possibilities.
Disgrace is a book full of love, faith and hope! You don’t want to miss this story which is now one of my top favorites of this year!
