New Review- From the Embers by Aly Martinez

From the Embers by Aly Martinez is a story of love born from the ashes of a tragedy. It is a beautiful book with twists and turns and a couple that connects through its mutual pain.

Eason feels every day the disappointment of his wife but he tries for their baby girl. When a deadly fire happens, he realizes that he has not saved his wife but her best friend who has also losed her husband.

These two have nothing in common except their pain but they have kids to raise so they connect so they can make it.

Eason is a lighthearted, fun and laid back guy that steals the attention of this book. I love how much he is there for all the kids and how much he tries. He has a pure heart and he is loyal.

Bree is not easy to like at first. She appears cold and judgemental. As the book progresses and especially towards the end, you understand her more and you see that she is just a serious, stubborn woman.

As these two do not really know each other before the fire, the rythm of their relationship is believable. They come together because of their losses and gradually they become friends and then lovers.

I usually love the unexpected happenings Aly writes and I do not know if it is a me problem but the twist for me did not work in this book. It was predictable and stereotypical.

Even in the saddest moments, you can find hope and love again and From the Embers is an example of that!
