Great and Precious Things by Rebecca Yarros is a devastatingly beautiful love story. It’s a touching book about love, grief and family. The feelings are bleeding from the pages and you will be carried away until the end.
Camden has sworn never to return to his small hometown. Being the black sheep of his reserved town, he has no place there but then a voicemail from his enstranged father asking for help brings him back. No one wants him there except his friend, Willow.
Willow has always been in love with Camden but since she thought he was seeing her like a little sister, she moved on with his brother. Her craving though has never been lost even if they have to fight with his brother’s ghost and the town’s hostility.
Willow is a sunshine to Camden’s darkness. They complete each other so perfectly. Although Willow has been his brother’s girlfriend, I loved that the author showed that he was never second place. She does not hold a candle for the dead brother. Their feelings have always been there but the timing was not right until now. They are them against the world and it was nice seeing them communicating and not leaving the drama of others affect them.
The book speaks about loyalty, acceptance, forgiveness. It’s about fighting for your values and finding your worth. It’s a great and precious book…
