Hard to Handle by K. Bromberg is an exciting sports romance about two “enemies” who get a second chance at love! This book has angst, it’s gripping and more emotional than I expected.
Four sisters who barely get along are brought together with the help of their father to save his sports agency. Dekker is the older sister, the one who took the role of the mother, when they were left without one when teenagers. She is responsible, decisive and ready to sign a huge name in their agency. The problem is the one her father chooses is the one who broke her heart years ago. Can she do her job or her feelings will get in her way?
Hunter is a hockey team captain ready to win the Stanley Cup. He has so many demons though and he is in a destructive road. He feels angry, sad and dispassionate about everything until the one who got away gets in his orbit again.
Together they are explosive in and outside of the bedroom, but their attraction is not enough if they cannot face together the hurt of their pasts.
The first part of the story was difficult for me to read. Hunter is aggressive and Dekker a little frustrating. There is push and pull that sometimes gets maddening and they really struggle to trust each other.
When they finally open up and they break their emotional barriers, the story becomes engaging and interesting. The author brings up topics like family issues, guilt and life choices and then you can empathize with them. I wish I could have seen them more as couple in the past and in the present.
I liked the dynamics between the four sisters and I would have loved to see them more supportive and cheeky towards each other, so hopefully in the next books we will see more of their relationship.
Hard to Handle was not easy for me to handle but definitely made me curious about this sports series. If you give it a chance, you will end up invested in this story.Do not be afraid to move forward because the end is really sweet!
