“Lips Close to Mine” is the second book in Wherever You Go series but can be read as a standalone. I liked book one “Talk British to Me” but I liked this one even more!
I have read everything by Robin Bielman and I have found that her writing style has changed a little especially in this series. Her stories have a more serious vibe as she discusses subjects heavier like loss, grief and guilt and certainly she has upped the “hot” factor. This book is sexier and edgier.
Harper is a girl chasing her dreams but all her walls are up. She might do anything for her job but she stays away from her emotions. Having being hurt by her past, she doesn’t allow anyone to get close to her so as not to get wounded again. If only her one night hookup and former best friend from childhood wouldn’t push her so much.
Levi has not forgotten the delicious night he spent with Harper and he will do anything to keep her in his bed. She resists him all the way but he can see that behind the hard façade, there is sadness in her soul he wants to erase. He doesn’t want a repeat failed relationship like with his ex, so a little fun on the sheets is the perfect solution.
Their sexual attraction is burning but can they keep their feelings out of the equation?
I liked both characters especially Levi. Harper is friendly, hardworking and I admired how much she fights for her goals. I found her sometimes frustrating because of her reluctance to admit her feelings especially towards the end but I justify her fear because of her past. Levi on the other hand is flirty, sexy and when we see a glimpse into his thoughts he is so sweet.
These two click in bed but they are guarding their hearts so they have to find their way to have their happily ever after.
This is a story with angst, sexiness and a couple that feels real and I cannot wait to find out more about this different side of this author!
