When you read a Penny Reid book, you know you will get a smart romance story. There are always intelligent, quirky characters without being awkward. Her writing style is always different , touching every day subjects, like family dynamics, work, friendship and most of all love. Motion is part 1 of the Law of Physics series and it’s a beautiful story about a girl and a boy who slowly fall in “forbidden” love.
Mona is a scientist. She is a prodigy at physics but she has no friends, no boyfriend and her twin sister is a disaster. When she asks her to help her and swap places, she is forced to accept although they are completely different. Now she is under house arrest and her “guardian” is a boy who makes her feel butterflies. She is deeply attracted to him but she can’t betray her sister or start something as a lie.
Both characters are so interesting. Mona is a confident girl, successful but she hides her vulnerabilities. She has been scarred in her past so she keeps anyone away but Abram has a way of tearing down her walls. I love her peculiar humor and her honest thoughts.
Abram surprised me with his sensitivity and his emotional depth. I admire how connected he is with Mona’s feelings and how much he respects her. He is a serious boy, a thinker but he doesn’t lack sex appeal.
Their relationship is sweet, funny and their encounters sometimes combustible. Their attraction is sizzling and they just click together.
The author has prepared us for a cliffhanger but it’s something to be expected. I am so excited about the next book and I can’t wait to see what will happen. Thankfully, the next part is coming soon!
