Luke is the chief of police and now he has to protect a woman who ran away from a motorcycle gang with many secrets. The only solution is to hide her in his home but her presence not only disrupts his life but also his heart.
Scarlett has known that trust means pain, so she has trouble to reveal her painful past to Luke but he shows that he can support her without betraying her.
I loved the pace of this book. Nothing is rushed and their relationship is built slowly and steadily. There is attraction but these two work firstly with logic.
Luke is the perfect protective man. I love that he is gruff and steady but not once does he lose his patience with Scarlett. He respects the time she needs to uncover her soul. Also, towards the end he has to choose between his job and his heart and I admire that he did not take things lightly even in the name of love.
Scarlett is a woman who has appeared before in the series and it was not under a good light. Devney is here to prove us wrong and redeem her in our eyes. She is scared but she has a good heart which needs some love.
I do not know why this author teases us so much but she gives us a taste for the next book and I am so ready for it!!!
