Karina Halle took everything I love and put it in a book; office romance with a single dad and a strong heroine, enemies to lovers and great banter. Although, the author wrote it as a romantic comedy, it doesn’t miss the depth and some emotional scenes. It has the perfect balance between humor and seriousness.
Nova has lived heartbreak; her family is nearly destroyed with loss and her first love has left her for years and she has not found someone better. Her only bright spot is her job as a brand managing director at Kahuna hotels in Hawaii. When her boss quits, it’s her chance to get his position , the one she has been building herself up to take over. Although she deserves it , her ex boyfriend takes it; the man who broke her heart and made her uproot her life miles away.
Kessler is not the same arrogant man he was back then. He made a mistake and he is here to prove that he has changed. He might be confident and smart but he is more sensitive than ever as he is now responsible for a toddler. He still wants Nova but he has to show that he is there to stay.
I loved all the characters from Nova and Kessler to his son and the nanny. Even the animals had character which was adorable. Nova is ambitious, strong and sassy. I liked that she was driven but when needed she opened up and she was not selfish with her feelings. Kessler is all alpha but when he is vulnerable towards his son you sigh.
This is a book full of entertaining and sometimes crazy scenes which will make you laugh but never fear. This story is also sizzling hot! Karina Halle wrote a light book which is perfect for these holidays!
