Three favorite authors, one music band and a book that will rock your heart! Rifts and Refrains is the second book in the Hush Note series and although, I have not read yet the other two books from Rebecca Yarros and Sarina Bowen, I dived into this one and loved it!
Hush Note is a rockstar band and each book is written about its members. Rifts and Refrains is about Quinn, the drummer and the only female of this group. Quinn has left her family in her past and chose to live her dreams as a performer. Now she has to return for her grandma’s burial and she has to face her estranged family, the man who has her heart and many things left unsaid.
Graham has never forgotten his childhood sweetheart but now he has moved on. He has a son as his priority, his job and the quietness of his small town until Quinn returns.
I am not a fan of second chance romance because the reason for breaking up is usually unjustified but this author wrote it beautifully. It is not about the couple itself but about choices. Quinn is a girl who chose herself and for that I admired her. Her family never supported her and although, Graham was there for her in the past, he was not ready for Quinn’s life. I loved the fact that in the present they have matured and they are more open with their feelings. Their attraction and their bond is not once doubted.
The author spoke in depth about family dynamics and although, they were harsh in their attitude towards Quinn, in the end there is forgiveness and healing.
I am curious about the other two members and I cannot wait to read their stories.
