New Review- Second First Impressions by Sally Thorne

Second First Impressions by Sally Thorne is a charming, adorable and quirky romantic comedy. This book cannot be compared to the Hating Game but it is light and easy to read. It’s a feel good story.

Ruthie is a 25 years old woman who works at a retirement Villa. She is a young girl that lives secluded and has forgotten how the outside world works until she meets the wild son of the property developer who just acquired the retirement center.

Teddy has no resposible bone in his body. He lives for parties couch sleeping and tattooing when he feels like it. When his father wants to teach him a lesson, he puts him in an old cottage besides Ruthie while she makes him work as the personal assistant to the most bizzare and eccentric residents.

These two are complete opposite but they bring out the best of each of other. Ruthie learns how to be young again and have fun and Teddy shows that he can be generous and kind. I loved their growth and their friendship.

The secondary characters are amazing especially Ruthie’s friend and the two old crazy women who bring a fun side to the story.

Sally’s writing is easygoing and “comfortable” and this story flies quickly. Their relationship is slowly building and I almost finished the book realizing that it is ending and they have not become a couple yet. The beginning is a little slow and the end a little rushed. I wish we could see them more as a couple before the declarations of love.

This book is fluffy and sweet. It’s heartwarming and although, it is not as good as the Hating Game, it is a book you can enjoy!
