Have you ever heard of the Bright Young Things? I had no idea about this part of history but Staci Hart took this fun concept and made it a lovely book! The Bright Young Things was a group of Bohemian young aristocrats and socialites in the 1920s in London that threw elaborate parties and treasure hunts through town. Now this author took the idea and resurrected it with an amazing set of characters!
This book is about Stella Spencer, the rich girl and organizer of these lavish parties. In one of these parties, Stella meets Levi, an “undercover” reporter, and sparks fly! They cannot resist each other but the secrets between them can destroy this special relationship.
I loved both characters. Stella is a sweet, fun girl who has a great group of friends. This part of the book, the bond between these friends was fantastic and won me over. I wanted to be in this group of people. Levi on the other hand is sexy, irresistible and charming.
The most alluring part of this book was the theme of it. Who would not love to be in secret parties where all the fun happens? I have never read anything like it and it was surely exciting.
I loved the first part of the story where the friendships, parties and the romance part unfold. The second part where the drama happened lost me somewhere. I wanted for them to have more communication. Their relationship is based on insta-lust but as they get to know each other, I wanted for them to show more trust into each other. I found Stella a little closed off towards the end and Levi did not fight for her. Also, there is a bad guy in all of this and many things were left unanswered. A part of it was solved quickly without reason and left us with questions, which are probably going to be answered in the next books.
If you want a book with a unique plot, a luxurious vibe and a set of people that shine, then this story will definitely “brighten” your day!
