New Review- The Wish Collector by Mia Sheridan

There is something magical when an author combines little words creating a story but Mia Sheridan wrote one filled with all these enchanting elements a fairytale has. It’s a book sprinkled with magic dust, a love story that it is written in the stars and driven by fate.

Clara has just moved to New Orleans to dance as a ballerina but she feels lonely. When she learns about a haunted sugar plantation where people can make wishes, she finds a purpose; learning about its history and solving the curse of the past. She is ready to uncover some secrets but she is surprised to find a real man hidden in the darkness who can bring light in her heart.

Jonah was an arrogant and confident lawyer until everything went to dust. Now he is barely surviving behind the walls of Windisle Plantation. When a little dancer provokes him to live again, he has to forgive himself first. Love makes him hope but there is nothing harder than facing his past mistakes and finding redemption.

This book has two love stories, one in the present and one in the past and you are going to fall for both of them. There is heartbreak but also friendship and true love. The background of New Orleans gives another interesting dimension to the story. Even if you don’t believe in magic, there is something about this city that carries you away.

Clara is a spitfire. She is a caring and sensitive girl but I love how much a fighter she is. She knows when to push and when to respect the boundaries. Jonah is like a wounded animal. He is deeply hurt by society and his regrets. I really liked his transformation and how much love gave him another purpose.

The secondary characters are colorful and have an important role to their love journey.

Mia Sheridan is a fantastic storyteller. She is so much more than an author. She has a lyrical writing style that I admire and she writes perfect modern fairytales!

The Wish Collector is a book you wish for!
