I am used to reading deeply emotional and heartbreaking books by Aly Martinez but I had never read M.Mabie until now, so I did not know what to expect by this duo. When The Time Is Right is one of the best friends to lovers romance book I have ever read. It’s funny, light and it has everything you need from two friends that become soulmates.
Hudson has always been a friend and a rock to Lex. He is best friends with her brother, but he has been always there for her. Their relationship is solid, they are loyal to each other and their banter so fun. When they cross the lines of friendship to something more, they do not hold back. Lex though has some ghosts from her past to overcome and Hudson is a single dad with a son his first priority.
I fell in love with these characters. Hudson is such a supportive man, an amazing dad and understanding of Lex’s craziness. Lex is a spitfire. Her humor will make you laugh and their back and forth will make you smile throughout the book. I really liked the transition from friends to lovers. Although, they have been best friends, the vibe of brother and sister, which is common and I hate, is not there. It is so natural to see them as a couple because there is no awkwardness. I think a successful relationship should be based on friendship and these two even on their difficult times are there for each other.
I know that these two authors are friends in real life so one of the best aspects of this story is the essence of friendship. Everyone will want a friend like Hudson or Lex, a person you can depend on in difficult times and the one you share your laughs and makes you feel good.
When The Time is Right is a perfect book for this summer! It’s a book that will make your eyes “smize”, your heart to swoon and have an amazing time!
