A love that’s worth keeping is worth fighting for . . .
Emily McCarthy is living in fear of a dark and dangerous past. A gifted mathematician, she is little more than a hollow, broken shell, trying desperately to make ends meet long enough to finish her degree.
Through an unlikely friendship with the aging, cantankerous owner of an old boxing gym, Em is thrown into the path of the most dangerous man that she has ever met.
Cormac “the Hurricane” O’Connell is cut, tattooed and dangerous. He is a lethal weapon with no safety and everyone is waiting for the mis-fire. He’s never been knocked out before, but when he meet Em he falls, HARD. Unlike any other girl he’s ever met, she doesn’t want anything from him. Just being around her makes him want to be a better person.
They are polar opposites who were never meant to find each other, but some things are just worth the fight.

Love Words from Danny to Lily
Dear Lily Darlin’,
I never was much good at writing these things, even when you were alive. You promised me all those years ago that time would
make everything better. But that’s okay. I always knew it was a promise you couldn’t keep. You were irreplaceable, and if you didn’t
know that, it’s because I didn’t tell you often enough. No measure of time will be enough for me to forget the smell of your perfume,
or your secret smile. For the longest while, the happiest part of my day was waking up. Because for that fraction of a second, you
were alive and the world was filled with possibilities. The instant I remembered that you were gone, my feckin’ heart broke all over
again. I ain’t proud of the fact that things went south for me after you left. Fallin’ asleep drunk on your grave wasn’t one of my best
moments, but I always knew you were with me, watching over me and tellin’ me everything would be okay. I begged you for a sign.
Anything at all to stop me ending it for good. And what did you send me? A band of scrappy little gobshites! They’re a pain in my
arse, and I’d be feckin lost without em’. Not that I’d tell the little shites that! Just when I think they’re settling down, the ability to
reproduce has turned them into feckin’ idiots. If I have to hear about Kieran’s mighty, powerful sperm one more time, he’ll be
meeting you before I do! Our gym is filled with whiney babies, and their kids, as well as their dogs, their partners and any other
fecker who fancies it. And not one of em’ ever pays their subs on time! If it weren’t for Em we’d never turn a bloody profit! I see so
much of you in Sunshine, it makes me wonder if you didn’t send her too. Maybe angels aren’t meant for just one person, maybe you
were meant to help us all. So Driscoll’s ain’t the fancy place I planned when we opened the doors, but it’s exactly the way you always
dreamed it would be. And those kids might not be ours by blood, but they are in every way that counts. They have no fuckin idea
they saved my life. It may not be the life I set out to have, but it didn’t turn out to be a bad one truth be told. And now I’ve picked up
another waif and stray. Pat told me she was in a bad way and needed work. I told him to feck off cause I ain’t a fucking charity and he
bet me on the horses over it. If I won, he’d stop giving me shit and if he won I’d give her a cleaning job. She starts Monday. Feels a
little uncomfortable havin’ a woman my age about the place, but I give her five minutes in the zoo before she’s running out the door
as fast as her legs will carry her anyway. I’d say it’s the last time I’ll ever bet Pat again, but we’d both know that would be a lie. I have
to leave you now darlin’. I’m babysittin’ tonight if you can feckin’ believe it. I never put much store in today, but for you, I’ll always
celebrate it here with you. Don’t ever think that a day goes by that I don’t miss you beautiful girl. I’ll never know what you saw in a
miserable old fecker like me, but I thank God for every day we got together. Happy Valentine’s Day darlin’. I’ll see you soon.
Love Always, Danny x
