Last week I rearranged my chaotic bookshelves and did you know what I realized? I have more paperbacks by this author than any other. I checked and I have read all her adult books and they are many. Where am I going with this? Even if Bound by Forever is a paranormal romance book that I almost never read, I loved it and it is going on my shelf. This book has suspense, mystery, action and the tension I always crave from a slow burn romance.
Niamh is a powerful fae. Throughout this series she is a key character for the other couples’ bonding and now it is her turn to fall in love. Lost in her grief she is on a road of vengeance and fury but someone has to stop her from losing herself into the darkness and that’s Kiyo.
Kiyo is one of the strongest werewolves. He lives a life in solitude and he does not want to change that. When he takes the job of a bodyguard to the sassy fae, he does not need to feel more but she is there to challenge him and steal his heart.
This journey of theirs is filled with action packed scenes. You are anxious to know where fate is leading them and what is in store for them. The writing is easy flowing and you are always at the edge of your seat. I liked that they do not surrender easily to their bond. Trust must be earned and both have scars that make them more distrustful. Do not expect sexy scenes from the start because they become a couple towards the end but there is this sensuality that makes you excited. The sexual tension is burning throughout the story and when they lower their guards they are on fire.
I loved both characters. Kiyo is stoic, a silent deadly force. A man/ werewolf that is strong and gruff. I fell in love that he was of Japanese descent and we see the story unfolding in the majestic Japan. Niahm is unstoppable with her unique magic and I admired the fact that she keeps her humanity and her sensitivity towards the world.
Bound by Forever has become my favorite story of this series and I am sad about the fact that we will have to wait until next summer for the final book. Five magical stars for this book!
