Ella Maise is back and she reminded me why I love her books so much! The Hardest Fall is a slow burn romance with lots of humor, amazing characters and feels!
Zoe is an artistic girl that loves photography but she is shy, awkward and has no job propositioning the football star, Dylan, but she does… she really does and then runs away.
Dylan has one goal in his mind; to make it into the NFL and he has no room for distractions but the rambling girl fascinates him from the start.
When circumstances bring them together and they see each other every day, they are determined to become best friends but their hearts get involved and they fall hard deeply and slowly.
Zoe is a girl quirky, cute and funny. She will make you laugh with her weirdness and her “strange” addictions. Dylan is hardworking, kind and caring. I love his protectiveness and they way he appreciates all Zoe’s quirks. He is honest and not your typical athlete.
Their relationship is based firstly on their friendship and it evolves much later in the story. Despite the fact that I like slow burn romance, I would have liked the beginning to move a little quicker. Although there is attraction, it is missing the sexual chemistry but when it comes I love it!!! I just wished there were more sparks between them in the beginning and more scenes as a couple. The epilogue though was everything I needed!
There are many things that will make you smile and laugh, but I have to comment that this book has heavier topics too, like abuse, family dynamics and the struggles of college life.
I am so excited that this author is back in the writing game and I cannot wait to read her next novel that sounds promising! If you like entertaining college romance that is not missing the right amount of drama, then grab this book and fall hard for this story!
